We are delighted to extend a cordial invitation to the 5th International Fruit Fly Symposium of TEAM, which will take place from 15 to 18 April 2024, in the beautiful setting of Belle Mare, Mauritius. The symposium is expected to attract fruit fly workers from Europe, Africa, Middle East and beyond as either in-person or virtual attendees.

This year the theme chosen for our Symposium is “Food Security: Securing our fruit for healthy consumption”.

The primary objective of this symposium is to promote interaction and collaboration among academia, researchers, extension specialists, and Industry experts. Our focus is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, scientific research, and innovative ideas related to biology, ecology and behavior of fruit flies. We will also explore novel techniques of control with significant emphasis on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the critical role of natural enemies.

  Keynote presentation from leading experts in the field; scientific sessions covering a wide array of topics related to fruit flies and food security; panel discussions to foster idea exchange and collaboration; networking opportunities with professionals and peers.

Mauritius is known for its area-wide suppression programs against a diversity of fruit fly pests using a whole suite of techniques from attract and kill to biological control . It will be a great opportunity for attendees to learn about the latest research on fruit flies and their management under the challenging settings of climate change and biosecurity threats due to increased movement of people and goods.
